He meant staying at the top as a champion(you become the target) is difficult than becoming a champion. In other words, it's easier to become a champion than to maintain the championship.

But Ghana itself is sinking! Everything in that country is sinking! Electricity is sinking; water is sinking; education is sinking; health-care is sinking; transportation is sinking; governance is sinking; economy is sinking; the Ghana cedi is sinking fast; football is sinking. I can go on and on and on! All sinking!

The only things rising are: corruption, cholera, armed robbery, petty thievery, defaecating in the gutters, choked gutters, putting up building structures in waterways, heaps of refuse all over the city, workers going on strike, teenage unconventional prostitution!

The other items rising 'steadfastly' include: stupidity, foolishness, dishonesty, indiscipline, radio-talk nonsense, rubbish for newspaper reports and articles!

In other words, my thesis is that boxing is sinking in Ghana because Ghana itself is sinking!
