I now understand why he was not fired. Bismarch, the ex-sports minister wasn't fired. He was changed; in other words, there was a reshuffle. Fired would have sent him home parking. Don't forget he is still in government even if demoted. We must all bear in mind that in as much as many people may try to be honest, it is not likely that they can account for all pesewa; and even if they do, they might have allotted it to the wrong expenditure just to balance the sheet and call it miscellaneous. Miscellaneous in accounting always cunningly covers amounts that could not exactly be traced. We must always judge people from the totality of all the facts available. He might have erred in some areas, I think, he did his best if even it wasn't good enough. He was fair, I can say.

A president does not have to respond to every article or call on him to act on some issue. This is what I have learnt from years of observation.
Kuffour used to do this, and on occasion, I dare say, to his detriment. There are many occasions, when I believed he was irresponsible for not stepping up and answering questions. He allowed poeple to take cheap shots.
Some leaders leave some acts and the judgment thereof to posterity. The ope is that they will be vindicated.
In this particular case, I think Mahama may just have done the right thing, by forcing the Sports Misnister aside. It initiated the transparency that we needed in order to carry forward the investigations/review of the entire process.
Where I fault Mahama is his removing the carpet from under the feet of this Afriyie Ankrah. I believe he could have waited for him to return to Ghana BEFORE re-assigning him. I am sure Ankrah was informed before he was moved, still it would have been better to wait.
Given the reckless comments from Yammin, who could blame Mahama for acting fast on this one?
I can understand why this man openly cried. Let us not forget that his brother and Mother had also been dragged into this mess.

S.E.X before employment or appointment must stop. Employment must especially in government must be by qualification which should include BECE and SSSCE certificates.
Rape cases are on the increase in Ghana. Judges and WAJU of the Ghana police force must do more to protect our society. Some people have become so notorious of raping and getting away with it. Many believe that it is a weapon capable of scarring individuals to the very soul and seize the least opportunity to use it; using it on the families of their political or business competitors. Not even those at the higher echelons of our society must get away with it. It is said that a man paid a student to rape the daughter of his business and political competitor. The rapist got away with it.
The number of court houses and judges in Ghana are inadequate especially in the Eastern Region of Ghana. The population has ballooned and changes have to be made. The same can be said of the number of police officers and the number of penitentiaries. On a visit to a number of court houses around the country I found the Ghana flag and the Ghana Coat of Arms (Seal) absent. This must change.

How did this vigorous vetting approve payments for the verbal contracts? What documents were used?
This crook Afriyie still takes us all for fools! How could the government's undertaking to provide $10,000,000.00 as sponsorship for Brazil turn out to be only $9,417,024.87 in cedi equivalent, then again losing nearly $500.000 in exchange and bank charges?
Was that another way dupe the nation?
I would bet the whole amount in Cedis was exchanged into American Dollars, taken on a plane to Brazil, exchanged into Brazilian Dollars before our creditors were paid, and when they were returning home, the remainder was exchanged back into American Dollars before being put on the plane to Ghana, exchanged back into Cedis before being deposited in government account! The commission should ask for documents that followed this process because there is much information to be gleaned. Afriyie Ankrah's destination is jail to serve as deterrent to future leaders. His testimony has many holes!!

Parliament was supposed to have approved $10,000,000.00 for Brazil. How come only $9,417,024.87 got to the ministry? Does it mean over $500,000.00 was deducted as 'seed money' by whoever dished out the amount?

The government was aware that the $10 million would be needed in foreign money, so why was the money dished out in Cedis before it would be exchanged into American Dollars before boarding the plane to Brazil, then exchanged into Brazilian Dollars(or whatever) for use during the tournament? Presumably, after the tournament, the remainder of the amount would be exchanged into American Dollars before boarding the plane back to Ghana and exchanged into cedis again before being deposited into the ministry's coffers! The commission should call for documents relating to this exchange cycle, because there is a lot to be gleaned from the process.
This vetting process Crook Afriyie Ankrah is referring to is bogus! What documents were used to approve payments for the verbal contracts? Unless there were audio or video evidence to help, the commission cannot accept any such contracts to have been properly instituted, and any moneys that were used to fund any such contracts must be blood money and should be retrieved. That CEO of one of the tour operators who was pleading for the commission to help them retrieve his outstanding balance of $108,000.00 must be taught a lesson in business: No written contract, no work done, and no payment!
Finally, this corrupt minister Afriyie Ankrah should be sent to jail to teach others a good lesson

THAT COMMISSION OF ENQUIRY INTO THE BRAZIL 2014 MESS IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND TAXPAYERS' SCARCE MONEY.
THE CHAIRMAN IS THE MOST SERIOUS OF THE OTHER TWO.
AS FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF THAT "WHITEMAN", THE LEAST SAID ABOUT HIS PERFORMANCE, THE BETTER, PARTICULARLY WHEN IT CAME TO QUESTIONING AFRIYIE ANKRAH.
THAT "WHITEMAN" BEHAVED AS THOUGH HE WAS AFRIYIE'S LEGAL COUNSEL, HOW SAD!
HERE'S A CASE INVOLVING THE "BLOWING" OF GHANA TAXPAYER'S PRECIOUS MILLIONS OF US DOLLARS DOWN THE DRAIN, THESE THREE MEMBERS ARE BEHAVING LIKE CONCERT PARTY MEMBERS.
THEY ASKED AFRIYIE ANKRAH WHAT COULD BE DONE TO PREVENT A RECURRENCE OF SUPPORTERS STAYING PUT AND SEEKING ASYLUM IN THE HOST COUNTRY?
THE SIMPLE ANSWER TO THAT QUESTION IS SUCCESSIVE GHANA GOVERNMENTS SHOULD CREATE THE RIGHT ECONOMIC CONDITIONS IN GHANA TO MAKE SUCH ACTS UNPROFITABLE. IN OTHER WORDS, GHANA GOVERNMENTS SHOULD CREATE THE CONDITIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE GROWTH IN GHANA.
I DO NOT THINK A NATIVE OF A COUNTRY LIKE SAUDI ARABIA, EGYPT OR THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES WILL EVER DREAM OF VISITING GHANA ON A VISITOR'S VISA, LET ALONE APPLY FOR ASYLUM AS AN ECONOMIC REFUGEE LIKE THE GHANAIAN SUPPORTERS DID DURING BRAZIL 2014.
GHANAIAN LEADERS ARE DISGRACING GHANA BIG TIME!

what are Ghanaian blaming the sports minister for? if players decide to be unpatriotic and 'money-crazy' to quote our President, and did not do well, is it the fault of the minister? I want somebody to tell me which gov't appointee, past or present, is able to raise money by his own ingenuity from private business people in Ghana to sponsor a gov't initiative before? I beg to defer with majority of Ghanaians who were calling for the head of the minister not because i benefited anything from the minister. if we're blaming him for organizational lapses, FIFA had organizational lapses. My question to the critics is if players are perverse and did not do well in future tournaments, are we going to call for the head of the Youth and Sports Minister? Lets be fair and put the blame where it belong.
It is not all negative.
