The Ghana Football Association's (GFA) lawyers and coach Kwesi Appiah’s legal advisers have started talks this week over the severance package for the ex-Black Stars trainer.

The GFA parted company with national team coach Kwesi Appiah by mutual consent last week and said the lawyers will meet to reach an agreement on what package is due Appiah.

The coach was handed his letter on Wednesday, which has now set the grounds for the lawyers to start their meeting to reach an agreement on a deal.

While the GFA is arguing that per the contract of the coach he is due three months salary in lieu of the three months’ notice of his axing which is expected to be not more than $100,000.

Others claim that the coach is due $800,000 as the remainder of his contract with the GFA.

Appiah had been under pressure since Ghana’s turbulent World Cup campaign where they failed to win a single match against a backdrop of off-field issues.

A draw at home to Uganda in their opening Group E match in the 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers increased the calls for Appiah to be sacked.

Even a 3-2 win away from home over Togo on Wednesday was not enough to save Appiah’s job.

Former coach Milovan Rajevac is being widely tipped to return to the post he held between 2008 and 2010.

Rajevac had originally been lined up to work as a technical advisor alongside Appiah.

The GFA says it will announce Appiah’s replacement before October’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Guinea.
