Ghana Juvenile Football Committee chairman George Afriyie believes colts football in the country is taking shape after a lot of strategic initiatives were put in place.
Afriyie, who doubles as the Black Satellites management committee chairman, insists the Black Stars can be relied on to put the juvenile football back on track to prepare players for the national teams.
“We're asking for a certain percentage of the gate proceeds of all Black Stars matches for the development of colts football in the country," Afriyie told Goal Ghana. "We are also asking for 5% of all sponsorship to the Black Stars for the development of colts football but all colts club owners have responsibilities to also follow.”
He added: “They are expected to meet a certain basic requirements in order to be recognised as a colts club.
“If there are no qualification criteria, everybody will form a colts club in his area. We're encouraging clubs in one area to merge in order to have strong area teams.”
The standard of juvenile football is expected to improve from next season after a proposed Under-17 League for Premier clubs to replace the reserve league for Under-20 players by the Ghana Football Association.
