At this point in time, the appointment of a foreign coach is just simply a replay of the big white colonial master and native-subject, mindset.

At this point in time, the appointment of a foreign coach is just simply a replay of the big white colonial master and native-subject, mindset.

No white coach has so far performed any better than any of the Ghanaian coaches we have had for the Black Stars yet, we think that we must still have a white coach.

The most annoying aspect of all this is that quite often, these white coaches cannot even perform the most basic requirement of their given job - and that is, the ability to communicate effectively with the local players, even in English, which many of our players are also not proficient in. This immediately creates an unnecessary communication gap which translates into a disadvantage in the overall performance of the team.

A foreign coach therefore, is actually a serious hindrance for the optimum performance of the team which we can very well do without.

I think that it was a major tragedy to have gotten rid of Kwesi Appiah but worse-still, it was a disastrous and painful violation against the African psyche and pride.

In the light of this disaster, the psychological disposition of the membership of the GFA must be seriously addressed for the long-term projections. In the near future, we need to get cultured and enlightened Africans in there to run the affairs of the GFA. For now Nyantakyi, Crentsil, Pappoe and all those guys are just about ok but with this kind of neocolonial mentality, which promises to further dampen the much-needed element of national ego and enthusiasm of our national team, I do not think that the Black Stars will do any better than they have done in the recent past.

1. The boys must believe they can.
2. They must go into games with a win-only mentality.
3. They must believe no team is better than they are till the team in question proves it on the field of play.
4. They must set high targets and play to win all the time regardless of the opponents history or pedigree.
5. Good coaching along with competent administration will get the job done.

It takes a strong team with a winning mentality to win a very competitive championship. When I say TEAM I mean the coach, players, all of the backroom staff, the FA and the government representative because Together Everyone Achieves Much (Team). It takes much more than an experienced coach for a team of 11 talented players to win a championship.

His experience in doing so, should have been continually nurtured to the senior level!

Back to John's point............The onus lies with the so-called professional playesr who behave like spoilt children...even though they were made who they are by donning the Black Stars jerseys.

Apart from that, their lack of respect for local coaches, should and MUST be stamped out of their system once and for all.

We do not need coaches of different races to win honours for us. Our local coaches have done it in the past, and given the right opportunities, can even do better!

What we need are committed, determined, patriotic and selfless players in the fold. And the GREEDY. SELFISH and ARROGANT players who caused our downfall and disgrace in Brazil.

Barnes is right. Ghana is blessed with football talent and therefore 'easier to coach'. But success requires mental fortitude and commitment and passion for the nation. 'A Nation First' mentality is all that is needed.

Well said pk.......Even Milo went on to a higher paid job but, got fired because he did not have a set of good players to play for him. And he being a bad coach, could not get the best out of his players.

Barnes is right. I feel like crying for not being the first to say this. Our players are rotten. If they were our non-traditional exports, no one will buy them becuase of poor packaging.
