This is not about supporting your fellow black man o, this is reality. There are great talents from.the Dutch league talk of Graziano Pelle who like Gyan shattered records and he's now at Southampton and he's still scoring. Should he be called up too?
Some leagues are better, some people are better and the earlier you accept it, the better. Currently Gyan no matter what, is not better than any of those shortlisted. Just unfortunate.

I hope you chaps will not start abusing CAF next year when Gyan is not named as African footballer of the year? You see, most Africans show emotions when their country men are not given awards. My avice is this : take a look back and see the talents in excellent past African Great footballers like Abedi Ayew, Weah, Kanu Nwakwo, Roger milla etc and compare them with those we are always clamouring for to win awards: you would see that they are not in the same category like the African footballers of the past. Abedi/weah/milla on his home cannot walk freely on the streets of Lagos; their fans would 'mob' them: they are even more adored outside their shores. Gyan does not deserve to be on the FIFA list: the only Africa that is deserving is Yaya Toure who will win the next African footballer of the year award for the 4th consecutive year.
