Hearts of Oak could never have compared themselves to Asante Kotoko if not Ashawo-ba JJ Rawlings who tried to kill Kotoko by paying Ghana referees. In the 80's Hearts attackers won penalty kicks in every game they played. For years JJ Rawlings blatantly paid and intimidated referees to favour Hearts. They won the league several successive times using penalties as their trick.

Hearts only won the league twice in the 80s so i dont know what you are talking about.If any one paid referees for hearts to win then they would have won more times.And if you want the breakdown then this is it.80,81,82,83(Kotoko)84,85(Hearts)86,87,88/89.In 88 and 89 a one season league was spread over two seasons.Therefore 86 to 89 there were 3 titles and all were won by Kotoko.
