This Osei Tawiah guy is always talking some nonsense.LEADERSHIP is based on how effective one can be not on age or how long one has been around.I am glad John opted to concentrate on improving his game instead of been dragged into this "class one" who will be the class "grufect".A leader is a leader and it doesn't take an arm band to distinguish him.Look at Kwadwo Asamoah, one of the most private players we have and yet by all accounts his word at camp is highly respected. We need to stop all this stupid back and forth about captainship and concentrate on improving our team.John just showed us the way.

You can see that he is going down everyday. I was a better player than Boye and so was Kwasi Owusu who captained the Black Stars. He did not kiss any $100,000 and never sabotaged any goalie. How much is Kwasi Owusu paid today for his retirement?

It depends on the demarcation line of the writer.
Boye played for the Black Stars in 2008 and 2011, and then consistently since the 2012 Cup of Nations in Gabon.
So don't try to draw the cut-off point for the writer.
Can't you see why he himself gave it to Mensah, and then, later, to Badu?
If Boye were from your hometown, you wouldn't write this nonsense.

There is nothing funny handing over the band immediately after the match. When ghana played Uruguay, john mensah should have rushed to stephen appiah and handed the captain's band to him when stephen came on the pitch. you see stephen was the captain but john mensah turned a blind eye and held the captain's band. look if stephen had been given the captain's band and he was leading the team physically, psychologically, and spiritually, there was no way djan would have contested him to take that injury time penalty. stephen appiah actually went for the ball - forget about that frivolous explanation he gave at the commission - when your team scores a winning goal at the nick of full time you don't go rushing to restart a game. he took the ball to take the penalty. you see he had not been getting playing time so he would have loved to make an impact by converting that penalty and of course he converted one at the previous world cup where djan missed his.

That's his nature; he doesn't want the captain's band to pre-occupy his conscience. Allow him to make decisions. I like John Boye as a player but I've been one of his critics because I see in him a great player if he'd decide to play smart football. He has the quality to become one of the greatest defenders in the game, if he'll master the art in the game. A player playing the central defence role should be able to read the game and detect they kind of play the opposing team is playing, then be capable to initiate goal-scoring moves. It's not enough to quell the efforts of the opponent only to blast the ball way or give feeble passes. I believe with a little pep-talks and some mentoring he'll be a world class. He has the strength or the fitness as well the stamina to endure. John Boye needs some polishing and I hope our handlers will work on that aspect.

Right now the Black Stars only have 3 world-class players: Gyan, Dede, Afful.
Even among those 3, only Gyan never seems to have a bad day on the pitch.
The rest of the 23-member team are useless.

Don’t blame the poor boy! He remembers what you said after the USA player dribbled him 2 times before scoring. In any case captaincy or captainship is no joke: you have to play well, be exemplary in discipline, and most of all you sometimes have to speak English to some players or the press; and not everyone is at home in these matters. However, this matter is not a big deal. Ghana has never had a clear guideline for appointing captains; this created a rift when Otto Pfizer took the band from Kwasi Appiah and gave to Abedi, not for seniority but the simple fact that on the international scene Abedi would be better suited through his speech, work rate and performance, having won Africa’s best player for the third successive time. Some backward Ghanaians never accepted this fact and made it a national issue up till today, trying to tarnish Abedi’s image just because of that and accusing him for not having won anything for Ghana though we’re still awaiting another Ghanaian to be called upon to cut the tape for opening a world cup tournament. The simple truth is that no country has a standard way of naming captains; example is the John Terry saga. I believe, if the substantive captain is not there the coach alone should know who has leadership qualities, not seniority. Let’s be objective.
