Mr. Johnson's call for an apology from the recalcitrant players is rather mild. It is only in Ghana that rouge players are pampered. The most sickening part is that people who think like Mr. Johnson are always maligned and dubbed sympathizers of the corrupt status quo. What a shame. Two wrongs do not make a right. The fact that the officials are corrupt does not give Muntari and his conceited friends the license to do what they did. Ghana’s image was at stake and they failed miserably. While agreeing with the popular opinion that the brawl was a crossing of the line , I'm also of the opinion that Muntari and KPB are being unfairly and unjustly treated.
The FA official did not turn the other cheek but stood his ground and engaged toe to toe with Muntari in the brawl. Both brawlers descended into the gutter, exchanging gangbangers vitriolic speech. There's no doubt that the two, Muntari and the FA official conducted themselves in an unseemly manner that caused our international image to take a dip. Subsequently, Muntari was suspended for an unspecified period while the FA official appears to be getting away without even a slap on the wrist.
Judgement has been lop-sided and unfair to Muntari and Boaten. Their predicament looks to me like a bungled workplace incident. Usually, after thorough investigation, the suspended employee at the workplace is either re-instated with or without compensation by his employers or fired from the job.
Muntari was only suspended from the BS so where is the apology as the pre-condition for his re-instatement coming from? He has been humiliated and punished enough for his part in the Brazil fiasco. Officials of the team must determine whether in spite of his mis-conduct and subsequent punishment the team still needs his contribution and re-instatement. If they decide they don't need him for whatever reason(s) then they can go ahead and fire him. To ask Muntari to apologize before re-instatement looks like another punishment to me. Their decision is incongruous with principle. A man cannot be punished twice for the same offense. The GFA officials, by letting their colleague go without even a reprimand are trying their hardest, in my opinion, to absolve the entire GFA from any culpability. The brawl was the cumulative penalty for the unresolved grievances which had caused a breach of trust and confidence. Had the officials done their job very well we'd not have had those ugly incidents. Leave Muntari and Boateng alone because it was the officials dishonesty, insincerity and incompetence that has weakened our team and caused the nation to become the butt of international ridicule . Leave Muntari and Boaten alone.
