  Messi always positions himself in or around the 18 yard box and uses his speed to draw penalties or score easy goals. That's it! When have you seen messi take on 2 opponents from 25/30 yards out like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho or even neymar? Keep messi way outside the 18 yard box and he is practically useless and can't impact a game. This is why he performed so lukewarm at the wcup becos they plays aren't designed for him like he often gets them with Barcelona

You may say they dont play the same position, but do you know Franco Beresi? just to mention but one. And you think De Jong is better than Essien let alone Weah or Pele. I will even play Kwadjo Asamoah before De Jong.

Look not far and there was Marco Van Basten, Ruug Gulit and Frank Rikaard. Kufuor was a pillar in his days and his inclusion justified. Romario was an unquenchable goal machine and cannot be ignored. Manchini in defence was unyielding. These people should have made the mark.
