This week has been a week of foolish suggestions. Yesterday it was a law lecturer calling for a law to compel us to clean gutters, today somebody with a microphone placed in front of him is calling for a law to stop showing Ghanaians live foreign matches. Why, do you want to turn Ghana into NORTH KOREA?
If the footballers can up their game just like the musicians have done, coming from nowhere to push aside foreign music, nobody will ask football fans to go and watch matches. Ghanaians enjoy good things.

Absolutely, the association must rather concentrate on clever ways of improving the game locally to make it more attractive. I wouldn't personally pay even ghc 10 cedis for a league match in Ghana mainly because there is lack of quality in our game. Run a better league, pay players well, give incentives and free advise to local clubs, train coaches, build good pitches in local communities to encourage young individuals to play the sport, sort your referees out, change leadership of the GFA etc... Improve all this and people will watch your league.

Sorry, but a country with very less brains end up without any innovative ideas to tackle it own problems and this is what we see it every where everyday. I do not see any sense in it. GFA must be blamed for lack of interest in Ghanaian Football leagues. The games are uninterested, nothing is improved, low payment for players and low skills on the ground plus average trainers and greedy and to bad management of teams and infrastructures (Stadium), etc. are the cause of low patronage by the general public.
A ban will not stop it. Those with satellites will find their ways and means to watch the foreign matches and leagues.
It is about time GFA set up goals that will advance the Ghana football positively. President Nyantakyi must pave way for others to come and show what he or she also can do for Ghana. One person holding position for long time brings under normal circumstances more corruption and worst management in everything. An example is what we saw at the World Cup. Today, those who sacrifies for the positive change in Ghanaian Football abroad are thrown outside without any respect by these officials because they want to hold their positions.
Shame on our leaders to mismanage our country human and natural resources.

What a load of nonsense, we come to a point where there aren't many sensible people looking at affairs Ghana anymore.
'Am sure even in North Korea there aren't all these 'banning' business that seem to spring out of every fools' mind. The problem is not what people can watch via free-to-air satellite; it's the pervasive corruption that has engulfed football management in Ghana. it's the blatant corruption and incompetence referees display during matches; it is the ever retrogressive quality of football exhibited during matches, and decades of lack of leadership and vision that is driving people away into their sofas to watch foreign matches. Those matches offer real football entertainment that people in Ghana are look for.

We need a progressive policy. All adverts in Ghana must be created by wholly owned Ghanaian businesses and the songs and celebrities in the adverts must be wholly Ghanaian. The celebrities and musicians must receive royalties. All the wholly owned Ghanaian entities must use wholly owned Ghanaian banks like ADB.
We must move into the era of music/movies as a service (MAAS). At least 7 out of every 10 songs, movies and TV series played on our television stations, radio stations and entertainment centres must be wholly Ghanaian and must be produced in Ghana. These stations and entertainment centres must pay on a monthly or annual basis royalties to the Ghanaian artists. The amounts paid must be reasonable taking into consideration the profits of the entertainment establishments. However they must not pay any money whatsoever to the foreign artists because of the negative effect it would have on our GDP. The Ghanaian artists must use wholly owned Ghanaian banks like ADB. Many people can recall great shows like: Kukurantumi-road to Accra, Ultimate paradise, By the fireside, I told you so, things we do for love, Akan drama with osofo dadzie, obra and co, home sweet home, TV theatre, Dr Paa Bobo´s songs etc
There is lack of will and this must change.

But I must applaud this idea . It has being long overdue, no thinking organization would allow what the GFA have been allowing.
The only way forward for the local league is excessive patronage from the soccer loving general public . And the only way to do that is to protect the market and allow it to grow .and in the long run , our beloved black stars might even benefit from these gesture .

The root cause of low patronage in the ghana football domestic league is not primarily because foreign matches are shown live. it comes down to quality of entertainment. lets face it. football is or has become a business entertainment sport. the ghana league is bankrupt of good players, good coaching, good refereeing, good infrastructure. the game needs to be developed from the colts level down on up. i am not going to go to stadia and pay up just because i cant watch EPL. thats a false assumption. What has the GFA done to package the local league, making it entertaining, exciting, and exhilirating to watch, NOTHING. do the stadiums even have replay capability. I would have sacked all of them from their post if i were sports minister, i dont care if FIFA bans us. this is bigger than GFA. the football talents of a whole nation has being mismanaged.

The high standard of the games and the competitive spirit.
Saanie you know what its an economic logic every good quality thing attract a price and you can t deny that!
People like Abrahmovic have invested heavily to let Chelsea be Chelsea what have we done about our local leagues? He invested in Quality managers as Mourihno who are result oriented got huge corporate bodies like samsung to invest to turn around his vision.
We can go on and on but last but not the least Remember in Economic theory leisure is also a commodity that is adored it reales stress which comes from the office and people are ready to pay to release such stress.

When the same GFA which budgets 20 million dollars for the black stars make such statements I am compelled to say they are a bunch of idiots. Nyantakyi and his corrupt buddies are the ones who kill Ghanaian club football. How do u expect people to patronise such a poorly branded league . There was one time I watched a Ghanaian league match and some players had thier numbers written with white tape paste on the jerseys . And some of these teams even wear the jerseys of these foreign teams when playing in the GFA's un attractive league. Mr.DAARA don't be silly.
The GFA's mismanagement of funds is what has killed the league not foreign leagues.

GONE ARE THE DAYS WESTERN COUNTRIES WERE WHIPPING AFRICAN COUNTRIES 11-0, 7-0 ETC.YOUR ADVISE SHOULD RATHER BE LOCAL TV STATIONS SHOULD NOT PLACE FOREIGN FOOTBALL MATCHES ON TOP OF LOCAL FOOTBALL. AFTER-ALL, UK TELEVISION STATIONS SHOW SERIAL "a", BUSLINGA AND OTHER FOREIGN FOOTBALL BUT THEY PLACE MUCH EMPHASIS ON THEIR LOCAL FOOTBALL AHEAD OF THE FOREIGN ONES

Why dont you sit down and bring out an ideal that will increase the attendence, instead of comparing to what some one is doing in his country.

This is absolute diatribe and nonsense. It somewhat surprises me that a man of so little substance has the position he has?
Lets look at the real problem:
The local league matches are extremely low on quality.
When going to a match you are met with long grass and the conditions not befitting professional football.
There is no attempt at making it a nice atmosphere or even an enjoyable 'experience' its just sit down and watch a game.
When people realise that the reason that the game will always struggle with sponsorship here is the league is not packaged as an attractive proposition. The tv coverage is like something from a JSS media project.
Grow up and stop pointing fingers Mr Daara!!!!

There is no where in the developed world where local free air tv stations will be allowed to telecast live national football competitions from another country, sometimes not even in their own countries. Even in England if you want to view a live premiere league match you have do so from a pay view station.
Allowing TV3, GTV, GTV Sports Plus and Metro TV to broadcast live football matches from other countries is contrary to the proper development of football in Ghana.
On the other hand, the GFA must take steps to improve on the standard of our local league to attract football fans to the matches.
