I am very surprised by some of the comments here.What is wrong with asking a coach who took over weeks before a major tournament to go and 'do well'.Nobody expects Ghana to win this afcon especially after the WC disaster and our unimpressive qualifying rounds so the most realistic thing to tell the handlers of the team was not to go and disgrace Ghana but to 'do well'.I don't know why people cant see that the only times we end up reaching the finals or winning are when people back home have no hope.Lets enjoy the team as they play well and if we get to win the trophy it will be a bonus but if we don't and as far as im concerned we have already done well.

I think the issue here is the double standard. As I see this situation, if Konadu or Appiah were the coach, they would have been put under undue pressure and criticism. Now that we have the "outsider" they are treating him with kid gloves. Much of what Grant has said at press conferences has been quietly accepted by Ghanaians. I know that if Konadu or Appiah said the same things it would be met with high levels of vitriol. My point is that we should treat every coach equally no matter what. In this case, if Grant cannot get his charges to beat Equatorial Guinea then there is a problem with keeping such a coach. Realistically speaking, this team should get to the final. If they meet Ivory Coast and lose, I can accept it. If they lose to Equatorial Guinea, the coach should be fired and Konadu should take over. Why pay a foreign coach all the money to lose to Equatorial Guinea in the semi-final of a major tournament???

It is because of these words that the players were so relaxed during our first game. It took Grant a lot of threats, benches, and discipline to reverse Nyantakyi's words planted in the mind of the players. Grant is mature and knows what Nyantakyi is saying is complete nonsense so he is not buying it. Grant knows his ass will still be on fire by Ghanaians if he follows those stupid words from Nyantakyi and does not even get out of the group stages.

See the coefficient man now turning round to include winning the cup when everybody knows that that was not your desire. You thought the time was too short for Avram do do anything and thus making it soft for him should he fail. Yes Ghana's last triumph was in 1982 but do know the history of that event. Black stars was assembled within 2 weeks by a Ghana coach as initially Ghana did not want to participate because of JJ Rawlings coup. Eventually Ghana went and won the cup= a team assembled by a local within a very short time and that was even Abedi Pele's first participation in Africa cup. If Ghana wins it is not something that has never happened before. Look at Equitorial Guinea, the team was assembled within short time- the team has never played a game for at least 6 month. Their coach was employed 11 DAYS prior to the tournament and look at where they now - playing Ghana at the semi final. Knowing that Ghana just returned from the World cup with about 90% of the WC players, Comparing Ghana and Equitorial Guinea which coach has 'DONE WELL'. You see we do not expect you to make reckless statements as the GFA head in order to satisfy your whims. I believe in the gospel and if Ghana wins then what I said from the beginning about Avram being an Israelite may be the answer - " I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you' said of the Almighty God 4000 years ago about the apple of His eye- Israel.
