The Americans know very little about soccer and the best players don't play there.
His illiterate mother steered him to play in North America when he should have been sent to Europe. He is past his prime.

This boy was never trained to be part of a team. He was signed for his individual skill which he still has. The problem is Americans don't know enough soccer to show him how to link his skill to help the team win. If you watch his game, he will take possession and never pass to anyone till he scores or the ball is taken away. That is what he lacks and will never get. Good bye talent
