There have been calls by a section of the population to give local coaches the opportunity to handle the national senior football team and there are others calling for the inclusion of local players in the Black Stars. There's nothing wrong with making such calls if the talents and the coaching expertise can be found locally. International Sports today is not just about making the number but it's about winning. Who needs a foreign coach when the nation can boast of many world class coaches? If we want to win then we must present the very best in coaching, whether local or foreign to manage the senior team. As for the local players they are all yearning for the opportunity to play in any of the big leagues abroad. Until our local league is also able to compete with the top leagues of the world and attract some of the big names in world football the drift of the cream of the cream of our footballers will always be away from home. If we want to be competitive at the world stage then we must take a closer look at sports development in general, from the grassroots level upward. We must think about sports development from the grassroots level, correct mistakes made in the past about age cheating, building the infrastructure and giving scholarships to many ghanaians to attend some of the best coaching institutes in the world. When we begin to make the right decisions and do the right things from the basic level up, in time, we'll begin to reap gladly and bountifully what we took much effort to sow. We love our own but no one wants to be pointing to his papa's and mama's house with the left finger.

when adday was given the blackstars to coach, he eventually resigned from coaching. when oti handled hearts in african cup then given meteors he also resigned completely from coaching. these two amongst the lot have been licking the boots of kwesi nyantakyi so that they keep their consultancy or administrative roles.
In Ghana the cocaches who made it with senior teams either at club or country level are ck gyamfi, aggrey fynn, osam duodu, ibrahim sunday,herbert addo & sir cecil jones attuquafio & to mention addo odamatey & malik jabir. These are mainly ex players who played football at the highest level in ghana during their playing days. Can somebody tell me when konadu, or nasamu or saban quaye played for the blackstars?

An overlooked local player is GODFRED Saka pf Aduana Stars. Will never be picked for the senior team unless for such games with Madagascar. Let SAKA join Kotoko tomorrow & he will be playing in the qualifiers

Madagascar was virtually unknown, only mentioned as Africa and Madagascar when it was a primary school geography lesson. When we were walking others were still sleeping. Now they're not awake but running and we have gone back to sleep. Wake up, Ghana, and start running because we have been overtaken by the minnows of football and I guess everything including math and science. Too much corruption by the politicians is melting away everything that made us the great nation of Africa that was revered and every African wanted to be identified as a Ghanaian. Gone are the days when a trader in Aba wanted to make a quick sale of any item he'd say this is made in Ghana. Ghana, where did we go wrong. It's not too late to do what's right.

These are distractions that does not augur well for Ghana.
Call it "Mmataho Soccer"

The Government would tell you in a minute that "Aban nni sika"

Why can't we concentrate/focus on what we think could be handled without costing leg and arm?
Why can't we give this local 'something' a different name other than the Local Blackstar?
