Special K. and Ayitey, thanks for mentioning CPR. But I think it is an exercise all the entire Society ought to be trained to deliver everywhere, anytime.
Given the fact that Ghana has a limited Health and Medical Network, such is what the entire Population ought to arm itself with to hold the fort before expert Medical or Health service arrives to take over.
Gone are the days when practices of that nature were taught in even Elementary Schools as part of our Civic Responsibilities. I remember learning similar first-aid practices in Primary School in the early 60s under a joint Hygiene and Civic Class. We were taught how to take care of snake bites and nose-bleeding, among other things. In those days, the town that I was attending School in, even though fairly well-populated with several thousands, did not have an active Health Center. It had only a small three-room Clinic with only a Public Nurse and a Midwife in attendance. Serious Health situations and Medical care had to be sought for long miles away, often with devastating results from long wait for transportation of the patients to the nearest Hospital.
In this modern age, many First Aid practices can be extracted freely online and our folks must organize themselves to equip themselves with the knowledge and expertise to intervene to save others' lives.
Long Live Ghana!!!

George Arthur was a bridge of conciliation between die-hard B. A. United Fans and Kumapem Asante Kotoko Fans.
As much as some in the B/A United tent were displeased with his move to join Kotoko, his exemplary performance with the Porcupine Warriors somehow dimmed a long-standing animosity that had even grown tentacles into the intra-sub-tribal relationship between Brongs and Ashantis, dating back to the days of versatile prolific scorer of B/A United, Agyemang-Gyau, and the marble-slippery ace dribbler of Kotoko's, (Rev.) Osei Kofi, and the 'Buldozer' Mfum, also, of Kotoko.
Soon after a nationally-hyped crucial and potential league-winner deciding game between Kotoko and B/A United in the 60s, in which Agyemang-Gyau had predicted a win for his side, failure of which he would hang his boots forever, tensions rose between Brongs and Asantes Nation-wide. B/A United lost in the heart-throbbing pulsating game by a goal margin but Agyemang-Gyau did not hang up his boots.
That match witnessed one of the ost historic fan riots following a win for their side, as Agyemang-Gyau was pelted with spent Oranges and other missiles by the Kotoko fans after the final whistle. He, and the other B/A United players, such as Nsoah (Tusker), Munufie, Kwasi Nsiah (the Goalie), had to be escorted off the field and out of the Kumasi for safety.
The days ensuing were very difficult for any Brong-Speaking person in Kumasi, in particular, and Ashanti, in general. Brongs were humiliated as the fans were doing during the match just mentioned, being called all kinds of insulting names, like 'Bush Asantes', 'Backward Asantes', 'Benkoto, Bensore', (as commonly used, now, by one Justice Sarpong, a regular contributor to Ghanaweb.com, against perceived Brongs who express opinions contrary to his), and frequently subjected to many other unwarranted epithets.
It must be noted that Agyemang-Gyau claimed his B/A team lost the game much because of the duress they had to play under. In fact, some Kotoko fans were pelting the B/A United Players with missiles even before the game ended. That, according to Agyemang-Gyau instilled some fear into his team that their lives would be in danger, if they won.
However, without my assuming to know what psychological frame of mind the B/A United were really in during the game, and therefore my inability to deny that fear existed among them, I would insist that the run of play indicated little of that fear, since the match proceeded tightly to the very end.
It is one heck of a period in Ghana Soccer History where political and Social tensions easily pervaded the Sports. It was the same period that Accra Republicans and Sekondi Independence were supposedly formed under the auspices of the late President Nkrumah via his indubitable Sports Minister, Ohene Djan, to mitigate the influence of the Asantehene on Kotoko. It was almost inconceivable for any pure, thorough-bred Brong-Ahafo son to join Kotoko, or a similar type of Ashanti native join the B/A United.
Thank God, the true spirit of brotherliness between the Brongs and Asantes, eventually and largely, seeped through to calm the storm with the emergence of George Arthur and his crossing the carpet, so to speak, from B/A United to Kotoko. Other great Players soon followed his footsteps to freely move around where they were most wanted.
Brongs began enjoying some respite from the 'Bush Asantes, Backward Asantes, 'Bankye Akesiemu', 'Benkoto, Bensore' insults from Kotoko Soccer fans, in particular.
So, George Arthur not only entertained Soccer fans, nationally, but, probably unsuspectingly, also, played a significant partial role in restoring some of the lost love and dignity of the Brong among the Asantes.
May he rest in Peace!!
