Congratulations
THE JOURNALIST USED THE WORD HUMBLE AS A VERB AND NOT ADJECTIVE. THE WORD HUMBLE CAN BE USED AS AN ADJECTIVE OR VERB
SO WHAT NEXT?
It should be " Ghana humbles Congo" and not 'Ghana humble Congo". The journalist needs to go back to school please!!
I don't like correcting contributors'
grammatical mistakes. But my brother there is nothing wrong with the grammar you are referring to. The nation state is seen as making up of a multitude of people so it is always seen in ...

Both of you are right. There should not be arguments about this. Names of countries can be used in singular and or plural terms depending on the contexts upon which the idea is being expressed. So stop fighting boys.
Guys you are making my day. I like the grammatical correctness discussion going on here.
Ken is right
Mr Mawriz EFO !Kofi! appears to be a half baked cookie who just want to blow steam. If he want to know about modern English.
Mr Wawriz EFO "Kofi" appears to be a half-baked cookie who just want to blow steam because his ALTER EGO has been hurt. If he wants to know about modern English he better go back to his Ghanaian teacher again. And that advice ...

What does which part of Ghana Kenneth comes from have to do with grammar? Tribal sentiments underlying your rhetoric question . Let us try to desist from such mystified obscurantist perspectives.
Mr Kanawu please know how GHANA was used in that headline
I am not a journalist but I have to defend them. You are not wrong if u use SINGULAR for Ghana and the journalist is also not wrong using Ghana in the PLURAL form
the author used the UK version which is right it would be incorrect in an American context since collective nouns are always singular in American version of the language.
When did this forum become an English language classroom? All one needs is to understand the message being conveyed.
There ought to be a 4/5 player quota for local players on every bstar squad. Braimah and fatau must be dropped..there are localbased goalies who can do better than them. In soccer, the main ingredient is confidence. A 17yr o ...

KANAWU is right, the rest are wrong. This is not about British English or American English. It is about a singular noun or a plural noun. Ghana is used as a collective noun, which carries a singular verb, and therefore the pl ...

Jordan job than, don't worry about this stupid coward Ghanaian trying to bring you down in life, keep on going
The cheap striker only score friendly matches and weak teams
Jordan is a dependable striker for the lowly ranked teams like Lesotho, Maritius and friendlies.
Perfect description of the game from head to toe.
Dauda must be dropped, bceause the first goal was his fault.
He is really useless I agree with You
Next time yu will call your size.
Mr Kanawu don't criticize this journalist. It is you who has to go back to school. There are few things u didn't take notes on from ur English teacher. The headline isn't wrong. Thank u
Massa, your ignorance is boring and awfully embarrassing.
Efo, just go back and learn your subject verb agreement again. There's nothing wrong with the title.
We all need to learn. GrammAr is the right spelling NOT GrammEr.
I watched the matche a the Jordan's goal was a pass from Acqua even after the goal they all celebrated with Acquah hanging on Jordan.fantastic
First of all, Kudos to the Black stars. Secondly, it's important that Jordan started to believe in himself and the result is a spectacular goal. That boy has a huge potential, he only needs to believe in himself and to try ou ...

Do. Really understand the word humble. U call three - two humble U journalists in this country love using words that u don't understand...
It's amusing how one could be so confident, and yet off the mark. "Ghana humble Congo" is absolutely correct. Schoolboy grammar would argue for an 's' to be added to 'humble', but strict English Usage prefers 'humble'. Same w ...
