In1983 I predicted that the time was coming when many African nations would overtake Ghana particularly in football because we lack the infrastructure development and the motivation from the grassroot level to propel us from also rans to a top class sporting nation. Our investment in sports is very minimal yet we expect a bountiful harvest. We have to invest huge sums money into the development of the game from the basic level. If we stop paying lip service to its development and inject huge sums of money from pre-school to the college level we will begin to see an accelerated growth in football. How about reviving the moribund inter schools sports competition that characterized our sports development in the early years after independence? A good foundation was laid in the early sixties and we're enjoying the benefits today. The well has dried up and we need to get down to serious business again. Many African countries which were minnows have overtaken us today and if we continue with this lackadaisical attitude we'll lose all we've ever toiled for.

We have modernised soccer now,and are now in the era of soccer academy instead of the colts football.We rather need to renumerate and motivate our local players to encourage them to stay here.
