The Germans saw it, were embarrassed but could say anything thus, thinking that the Ghanaian entourage would quickly spot it and correct it—but, alas, they were all sleeping Negroes, all of whom needed “fashion police” by their side.

When some journalist tapped on his (General Morque’s) shoulder and whispered into his large ears that "...guess what, I think your ass is wearing a lady's coat." Who, me?? retorted the Mosquito guy and when he later got the message, he tried SEVERAL ways to explain his "wardrobe malfunction" to Ghanaians, but the good People of Ghana didn't buy it.

The current wave of our Local Political Parties traveling overseas to attend conferences of foreign Political Parties they think share similar ideologies with them is wasteful, and connotes a certain intent to blindly copy what may not necessarily fit into our special environment.

Akufo-Addo's faction of the NPP is the first to initiate such trips. Many Ghanaians thought the whole exercise was so to let Akufo-Addo buy his popularity among World Leaders, and return back home to brag about having some special friends among those foreign Leaders who may be more willing to help his Presidency, should Ghanaians vote for him.

Some Ghanaians even thought that Akufo-Addo would use such trips to discredit the incumbent President overseas to make any attempt by President Mahama to attract foreign investments and Aid for Ghana almost impossible.

Well, here goes Asiedu Nketiah to Germany on a similar trip. What can we say about it? I would dare say Nketiah's trip is simply to counter Akufo-Addo's likely popularity draw on his.

There is nothing special that Asiedu Nketiah's trip to show any solidarity with the German SDP could gain for Ghana.

In fact, all these Partisan trips abroad by both Akufo-Addo and Asiedu Nketiah are only contributing to the drain on our scanty Foreign Exchange reserves.

One might suggest that such trips help the Leaders of the Parties to learn new strategies to run the Parties better, or design better Policies to run their Parties on.

After Akufo-Addo's many trips in the past, during some of which he even met with Members of Parliament in Great Britain and other Nations, we never saw any improvements in how he led the NPP. Rather, his leadership grew worse as seemed to have lost control of the Party and internal wrangling and even violence escalated to fatalities.

There is nothing that these foreign trips would offer for lessons to the NDC and NPP that cannot be learnt at and from home in Ghana by the Leaders.

Meanwhile, only a few days ago, some NPP Officials were complaining that the Party was running out of Funds. And we learnt that Akufo-Addo organinzed a Fundraising event in UK last Week to solicit for more Funds from NPP members in that country that did not go very well.

So, if the only pertinent reason for which such trips may be useful cannot pan out well enough, what then should any of these Parties spend money to make those trips?

Those foreign Parties to whose conferences our local ones would be attending, possibly inviting themselves in, would not and cannot offer any financial assistance to the NPP and NDC. Such importation of Funds into our political system would be against our Electioneering Laws.

I, therefore, think the practice must be discontinued. If our local Party leaders do not believe in their own abilities and ingenuity to run the Parties successfully, then they should remove themselves out of the Partisan competition to let the more competent Parties organize our Electorates for the Elections of better Leaders for Ghana.
