  Schlupp is a wingback so he's good for a game where more offense is needed, in a 4-4-2 formation with very good central defense and midfield defense for example. Grant is using classic 4-4-2 and balancing offense and defense because the Black Stars defense isn't good so Schlupp doesn't fit in well. What factors for selection are you insinuating by the way? I don't think there's anything sinister in the selection. I think Grant just can't take risks so he selects players he is comfortable with based on their professional experience in the formation he's using.
