I am extremely delighted to read this piece.The north abound in football talent but a combination of deprivation,discrimination and neglect is what is killing the potential of naturally gifted young footballers in the north.One of the biggest problem militating against development in the north is greed,avarice ,self centeredness and outright jealousy.We have a lot of very wealthy northerners in big cities like Accra,Kumasi and Takoradi making huge investments over there whiles their own people wallow in abject poverty and deprivation.Some even misapply their wealth in frivolous,extravagant and reckless lifestyle such as building expensive mansions and buying luxurious cars for concubines.A fraction of such wasted money spend on football kids and boots can unearth talents,empower the youth and help develop the north.A lot of football pundits have complaint about Ghanaian footballers being talented but diminutive.You can get talented,tall and physically imposing players in the average northerner.Most northern elite and rich often let the north down.Even great footballers like Abedi Pele whose talent was unearth by some benevolent people in the north have turned his back against the north by doing nothing or very little to help develop football in the north.Ibrahim Mahama is one hell of a philanthropist who is putting his money into good use to help develop the north.Others should follow suit for good name is better than wealth of riches.
