Adu's down fall is from her foolish mother who her money is all abt money but not a better future for the son. He had the opportunity to help his mother so he just went for the money while he was hot. It is a different time now. Now, there are many Freddy Adu types in the USA but no one gets too excited about them. As a result, they take their time go to college and if they are good they go to the MLS. Unfortunately, few are getting call ups to the national teams. On the USA the only one is Gyasi Zardes. Most of us would have gone for the money as well and just followed the hype.

Look at Messi. Barca knew his wonders but kept him in their academy to learn from their superstars like Ronaldinho, Xavi, Puyol etc. and they brought him to the lime light when the time was due.USA did the other wise. The moment F. Adu shined in the U17 world cup as a 14yr old kid, they expected him to keep performing like that in MLS instead of nurturing him. its sad but we have so many of these talents in Ghana who just need a push.

Maybe someone should have advised him but his rise was too quick and became more powerful, he had to be shut. Powerful media started a negative campaign and the football coaches working as mafia wouldn't hire him.
Put Freddy on the field and see his skills but no mafia want to deal with his mom as a manager.
Though 26, he is still one of the best America can ever have. Why is he not in the National team, something must have been wrong somewhere.
