That is how the north got poor; Little investment in the North by subsequent governments. Investment begets investments begets wealth.

The two deprived areas in the country, Central region and the three northern regions continue to receive disproportionately low levels of the national cake compared with the richer parts of the country.
We then device knee jerk reactions called social intervention projects hoping that we can reverse/correct the ills we have created over the years within a short time.
The regional imbalance in the way we allocate national resources must stop.It is no rocket science; the commulative effect of given so much to some regions and given so less to others will result in a wealth differential and a drift of the population towards the areas that receive a greater share of the investment. It then becomes a vicious cycle. we give more to areas that have high populations and little to those with low populations further enforcing the rural urban migration and widening the poverty gap. Can somebody wake up?

We are deepening the impoverishment of our poorer communities by channelling investments to affluent urban areas.

People will chase government investment. They will drift to Kumasi, Accra and Tamale much to the negligence of investment deprived areas.

We blame our doctors for not accepting rural postings but the behaviour of the doctors is a consequence of government policy of investment discrimination towards urban communities in the first place.

We need infrastructure alright, but not any infrastructure which is not going to recoup the expenses in it useage. There is a tadium in Tamale, and I wonder how many capacity it takes in a match to offset cost. Else the edifix is a waste of money.
