SOURCE : Class fm online.com--------- Ghana is paying six times its total oil revenue as interest on the country’s total public debt stock; that’s the computation done by former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia. “We’ll reach GHC99billion by the end of this year 2015,” the Running Mate to the Flagbearer of the biggest opposition Party said in a post-budget presentation interview with Richard Sky of Citi FM. “The interest on this debt alone is going to be six times Ghana’s oil revenue,” Dr Bawumia said. “When we found oil, we were happy that we found oil, but the borrowing of this Government has compromised the whole oil discovery; you need six times our oil revenue just to pay interest on the debt, not even capital, so, it is a really sad development,” he complained.

"Appearance" is a misnomer.
The better term is "Qualification".
All teams labour a lot to qualify for tournaments.
Therefore, that's their reward for qualifying.

Therefore, that's their reward for qualifying.

If you dis-incentivise them by dropping the "appearance fees" (the qualification rewards), you're better off not asking them to fight for a win.

The money is not even from the Ghana Government or GFA.
It's from FIFA, so why the cheapness?

My only beef is how many of those players who actually do the fighting to qualify get dropped in the end without compensation, while some arrogants from Europe are included with huge appearance fees.

GFA should pay footballers their share for participation in big tournaments. This money comes directly from FIFA and the ballers need to have their share. We all know, once they retire no one gives a damn about them. So Footballers need to bag their appearance cash. It is GFA officials attending such events who need to be scrapped off or their portion reduced drastically. They cannot be paid as though they were also footballers.

There should be detailed accounts of what the FIFA money has achieved for the last three appearances.

This lack of accountability is killing the football fraternity in Ghana. This goes along way to taint the image of the game.

I am hoping the new regime will allow for accountability of the FA's.

It is understandable for the players to be paid appearance fees at the World Cup because FIFA makes tons of money in sponsorship deals and it is, therefore, fair for the players to a piece of the pie.
