It was all over the news and he could have stopped the trip when he realized the right procedures are not being followed by the GFA. Rather, he sat unconcerned and the care takers took his children away without his permission, only for him to grumble later. Wei y3 leader? Is he trying to say, his response would've been "I didn't know about it" had any unfortunate incident occured? A good leader would've questioned the GFA immediately news about the match broke.
