There is the argument that these players collect the bonuses to ensure a financially sound future . Most of these players ( probably except the few local players) are making enough in their respective clubs. Could a little sacrifice be made here by collecting a token amount as bonuses when playing for the nation? Probably . The GFA also has a responsibility. What happens if someone gets injured on a national assignment, like Jerry Akaminko? Some mechanism must be in place to cater for such rare situations. There could be a way out for both parties so that what happened to the players of old doesn't occur again.
Players playing for their nation is not part of their normal employ. The players should therefore not expect to amass wealth for their retirement at the expense of the nation which aided them to be where they are now. Most of our players making millions now shot into fame because of our local league. This discussion needs to be looked at from various facets. There is no simple solution but a determined administrator could come up with a structure to narrow the differences between the players & the football administration

Let the politicians work for free for Ghana. Everyone must be paid for what he does. Footballers can make much more money if they stay in Europe and do not come to play for Ghana. So if we need their services, the government must pay them a commensurate salary. It is as simple as that.

General, the game of soccer has evolved within decades.It use to be amateur soccer where players got involved as a past-time. Now it is business.For example Africa has 5 countries representing them in the World Cup. It used to be only one single country representing Africa where Zaire went to World Cup and were beaten 9-0 by Yugoslavia. Our African players have contributed to the development of professional soccer in Europe and has enticed FIFA to take such a decision.These players are playing for money and will not leave their JOBS to play for Ghana, get injured without care,and go back to their various clubs.
