Wales' players and the Football Association of Wales (FAW) are in talks to resolve a dispute about their bonus payment for qualifying for Euro 2016.

It is understood that before the campaign, the FAW offered the squad a shared seven-figure bonus but, after qualification, the offer was lower.

BBC Wales Sport has learned a group of senior players - including Gareth Bale - is leading the discussions.

The FAW insists there was no dispute and such talks were commonplace.

But it is understood the players were unhappy with the revised bonus on offer.

Wales' committee of players, which also includes captain Ashley Williams, Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and Reading defender Chris Gunter, has been in talks with the FAW since the end of the qualifying campaign in October.

While top-flight players such as Bale, Ramsey and Williams earn a significant amount with their clubs, the stars are eager to ensure Wales' squad members who play at a lower level are given a fair amount of any national bonus payment.

Discussions continued when Wales reconvened for the November friendly defeat against Netherlands.

Although Bale and Ramsey did not play, it is understood both players contacted their team-mates to keep abreast of the bonus talks.

The draw for Euro 2016 will be made on December 12, with Wales waiting to discover who they will face at their first appearance at a major tournament since the 1958 World Cup. source bbc

It is just like the minister of education having or being the proprietor of a private high school. Where on this planet will this happen?
Our footballers are mostly professionals plying their trades elsewhere . Coming to play for the nation is an honour & not part of their normal wage earning work. Why collect huge bonuses? So that the corrupt administrators will also pay themselves the same amounts. $100,000 in Brazil was each paid out to the players & the parasites accompanying the team. As for the president, the least said the better and innocent people are suffering. The old players who chose honor ahead of riches, where are they? The fact that the executives of GFA takes some of the money doesn't mean the players should play for honor. It's their damn job and they get bonuses at their clubs on every match day. You misunderstood the implicit assumption: there is desire to embezzle money & that's one way they do it. Does that mean the players shouldn't collect their bonuses if deservedly so? No. Rather implying that it is a duty call from your nation. Do so honourably a by product of which will be to stop some crooks from further draining our coffers. That's the more reason Sule Ali Muntari was hated by the GFA. His reaction deplorable but sometimes we need such misfits to bring us back to our senses .

My attention was drawn to you only last week of being outspoken and what I have just read in your speech has given me more than any proof I should need. Mr. John Benjamin, may God richly bless you.
You are the types who need to be called ambassadors. You do not look at preserving your job but doing what your work ethics demand of you. I wish I had the opportunity to look into your face to congratulate you for this piece.
It is only the bible which normally gives me inspiration the way I felt after reading your speech but your speech sent me shivering.
Oh God raise people like this for us to save this world from sinking so deep.
I believe when you 'hang up your boot' after retiring you really look back and feel happy for yourself. I do not think anybody can convince me that you do not live the talk because I can feel it within my spirit.
