  Kwame, in most countries, the government does not fund its athletes to participate in the Olympics. It is the responsibility of the country's Olympic committee in conjunction with the various sports federations to raise the funds to send its athletes. If you had read and comprehended the article, you would have realized the sports minister has come up short on it fundraising campaign. You're steeped in partisan politics that you blame the government for everything when blame isn't warranted. Be a patriotic citizen and voluntarily contribute some of your money towards the country's Olympic participation.

We have people appointed to position without any managerial skills. From the bottom to the top, how can we make Ghana just a little better? It's a shame, but this story is repeated over and over again. CONGRATS NDC.

  The problem is accumulative. Money that comes in allocated to the Sports Authority or the Olympic Committee gets whittled away bit by bit by giving to the Presidents of Federations who just waste it on their own travel, whenthey don't need to go somewhere, or hangers on who have ABOLUTELY NO ROLE TO PLAY. So it's not that the money isn't there, it's that it has been mismanaged for the last few years so this Minister has inherited a system that had a sickness at the heart of it. The Africa Games was a great example. There were more 'officials' than athletes and most of them were just there to party. The serious athletes and there were some there, found it hard to concentrate. there was no team building. they just wasted the money because there were TOO many 'officials'. So that money was gone and now there's none left. MINISTER CLEAN UP THE SPORTS OF GHANA NOW. If it's cleaned up, results will get better and more sponsors will step in. AND MAKE SURE THERE IS A CLEAN CLEAR FRANK SYSTEM WITH ALL THE FEDERATIONS REGARDING SELECTION CRITERIA. THIS IS A MUST. Right now each Federation President is a law unto himself and picks and drops people at whim depending on who is willing to kiss A** How can you get sponsors and support when you don't get results and you can't get results because half the time the wrong people are being put forward for competitions?? This is the National flag we are talking about! And the most important event in the global sporting calendar. Absolute disgrace! The Presidents of the Federation don't even know anything about their sports half the time and the 'national coaches' are sometimes just someone's mate! CLEAN IT UP MINISTER ONLY YOU CAN!
