  How many Swimmers did you qualify? The Swimming federation didn't qualify any swimmers, but they want to go to Rio and enjoy themselves. The 2 swimmers representing Ghana at the games were represented by their coaches.

  The audacity of the President of the Swimming Federation beggars belief! Now they're complaining they didn't get a free trip! The federations just like to send officials to swan around on free trips. The athletes aren't even important and are just there as an excuse. They don't know what they're doing and just waste money left right and centre. As for the useful seminars, they don't go to them anyway.

  Why waste our time with swimming??!! That is not a sport for Africans. We need to channel our resources into developing our sprinters and jumpers.

  The Federation presidents take the piss. They put a tracksuit on someone and call him a 'coach' now what this person has actually done or can do is complete mystery. These mega events are an excuse for a bunch of 'officials' to travel to far off lands, stay in hotels, get per diems, swan around, do nothing and usually involves a fair bit of drinking and in some cases womanising. Rio is a great destination. But the swimmers had no business being there as their times are just not olympic standard, and they basically finished pretty much last or next to last out of ALL the swimmers, and the 'officials' sure as hell have no business being there. Basically the whole thing is so mismanaged and run on favouritism and strange decision making. And no one dares open their mouth because they get burned. But anyone who has ever been on one of these outings will tell you it's nothing but an excuse to go and nothing to do with sports or results, or even planning or even ambition and the athletes are the poor pawns in it all. So sad. Let's hope and pray the Minister can talk the government into doing a house clearance and sort this out once and for all so Ghana can perform at the next Olympics because there is no reason why not. It's a great country, great people, amazing talent, incredible history of pride and achievement and a world leader on the African stage. Give the youth a chance and they shine but not with this kind of abusive system of administration using these youngsters for their own freebies.
