That is literally what they do! In the past there are witness reports of 'officials' just show up, have fun, collect their per diems, (some of the 'officials' drink a lot), they don't bother to find out what is going on or where stuff is so they can't even help the athletes. They barely show up to watch the athlete's events, then there is an early elimination, the national tracksuit comes off and it's more party time! That's what happens.

Such a shame because Jim Crow is an ex-Olympian who was a very fine sportsman in his heyday. The GOC seems to be a quagmire of failure and shame and little else.

He had a good career as an athlete but that does not mean he can be a good leader or planner. This situation needs a proper examiniation, a thorough clean up of all the federations, a complete renaissance of Ghana sports and it can only happen if the governent DEMANDS it and sanctions a thorough investigation by bringing in sports management team with good credentials, taking their ideas and report onboard and implementing it. If the will is there by the government to do this it can work. If the Federations bully the government into thinking there's nothing they can do and that they, the federations and the GOC have all the power then the government can simply refuse to fund any more. That will shake it up. You can't expect funding for a bad habit!

No report on Ghana web that the women's 4x100 relay team came last in the heat! It's all so tragic that they've even stopped reporting all the bad news. Shame. Whoever is in charge of GOC and the GAA Federation has some serious responsibility here and no good blaming it on 'lack of resources' you don't need resources to run against time! And other countries with less did better. It's the management of talent, and the selection criteria and how things are handled that has to be examined.

The governance and managemet of the Fedearations from their selection procedures to the way they just carry a load of baggage to these events, and are so clueless MUST BE SCRUTINISED. The Government of Ghana should not have to be forced into supporting sports if the federation is so badly run and not open to questioning and transparency. This is an opportunity for the government to say they want a proper and full review of ALL the Federations, their presidents, accounts etc. bring in an outside sports management company and make proper changes to procedure and governance. They have the power to do that. The Government supports these federations and all they do is make a mockery of sports, the athletes and the country's pride.
