The Minister was right to ask the coach to reconsider his team makeup in view of the financial constraints. You can't keep stpending what you don't have and the Football people are sucking the Ministry dry¬!!!! The game was not critical as Ghana has already qualified, the Rwanda team has not qualified so the argument that it gave the coach a chance to evaluate his team is not valid either. Any decent thinking person would think this would have b een a great opportunity to give the local players a chance to shine. But no they are denied that opportunity. Now Dede Ayaw has stepped in to pay the tickets which is honourable but he has been used by the political machine that is the GFA. A much better way of handling it would have been to say to the Minister look, how can I help and then give the money to the Ministry to distribute. In any case the ghanaian football players getting paid a quarter of a million every week should actually club together and put just 1% of that aside and Ghana football could then be properly financed and supported and the Ministry would have this heavy burden liftend and c an develop other sports too. Right now all the government's money and support pretty much gets sucked up by Football and that is only of interest to young males. So Minister don't get mad, turn this around and tell Ayew and the rest of the ghanaian players abroad, to donate 1% or even .5% of their annual earnings to a charitable trust (that way they get tax breaks in their respective countries so it's not like they even lose the money as they get a tax incentive, and put that money to fund all the various football teams. DO IT! Set upa charity in Ghana to support youth development in Football and get the overseas players to make a payment and write it off!

My question is this - where is all the mobey GFA receives from FIFA and friendly matches the Black Stars play? For once, I think the Sports Minister is doing something right. When monies are given by FIFA to GFA, the GFA claims autonomy, says it is accountable to no-one, and Nyantakyi and co use the monies as they want. They don't report their incomes and expenditure to anyone, not even the Ministry of Sports. When the gov't or any organization tries to audit them or probe into their finances, the GFA calls on FIFA which threatens to ban Ghana from international football if GFA is touched. So the GFA is a law unto itself. Now, when it comes to expenditure like what we are experiencing about players air tickets, WHY does the GFA want to Sports Ministry to pay the bill? Why shouldn't the GFA be responsible for that and pay from its coffers, like the way they take in all receipts? So much corruption in the bold-faced liar Nyantakyi's corrupt organization. The Minister therefore is right - if the GFA cannot sponsor the plane tickets to fly in these expensive players, then they should use local-based players to honor the match against Rwanda. It absolutely makes sense. After all, the match is only for academinc purposes since Ghana has already qualified for the next stage. Bravo, Nii Lante....
