It baffles me to read the article by Afanyi Dadzie placing the lack of enthusiasm squarely on the players and fans. Gone were the days when players like Osei Kofi, Baba Yara, etc played the game with love and patriotism (God bless them). Ask those players how people used to give them money even walking down the street. Ask Kotoko players like Ampadu, George Oppong, Kofi Badu and others who lived at the Oforikrom/Anweam apartment. This is a new era. This is their profession and players needed to be paid accordingly for their services rendered. You can argue on dedication and patriotism, etc. I lay this problem on the feet of incompetent and greedy Minister of Sport and his cronies. Why couldn't the minister pay their monies directly into their bank accounts? That would have eliminated the incompetent government sending physical money to the players after they demanded to be paid, save Ghana from chattering a whole plane, pay taxes, and indirectly boost the economy of a foreign country. Our local banks and central bank would have benefited. Why? The reason? The bottom-line is no one trusted the people in charge, the Minister kept giving empty promises right or lying to them (which had been done many times) when they were playing international friendly matches. If you want to know the truth, that is the basis of the revolt. Blaming this on the coach for losing locker room which cost him his job is nonsense. What has Grant done differently? For the players to revolt against their loving players' coach tells how resolved they were in getting their money and Kwasi Appiah does not handle money. They love Kwasi Appiah, they respect him for his contribution to the game of soccer. Players and technical team had been lied to and cheated many times by Afryie Ankrah and his cronies. Lack of planning which resulted in scrambling for money, there are still no proper planning, no short-term/long-terms goals, or preparations. These are the problems that are killing us and it is time the incompetent government through the incompetent and arrogant sport minister start a thorough planning for the future of the ALL national sports.
Finally, people (fans) are suffering economic hardship and wasting time on these games is the last thing on their mind. Better economy, better government, better jobs, better pay, better treatment for the players, better preparation for national assignments, etc, brood enthusiasm and other extracurricular activities. People are fed up and they cannot support on empty stomachs whiles others are milking the system for their selfish needs.

If you care to know, Dede Ayew was the single player who broke our hearts when he said, "We are players, we are doing our job, this is our career, we deserve the money". How does this statement sound in your years? It means, only one thing: "Mind your business". From that day, Ghanaians started minding their businesses. We don't care about the Black Stars anymore. Now, half of those who make it to the stadium to watch the matches go there not for the love of the game, but to support the opponents against the once most adored national team, the Black Stars. Discussions in the stand before the game is all about hatred for the team. There is a jubilation when a visiting national team scores against us. Uganda has done it twice against the Black Stars. Rwanda got their share of the spoil in Accra recently. We can't help ourselves. I personally didn't care to watch the last match of the Black Stars. I was only interested in the score and felt nothing in the 1-1 result. Pathetic, isn't it?

Anytime black stars qualify, stealing is massive. For me it is will be a humble and wise decision to use to moment to make radical change at the GFA and the Sport Ministry. Because of Black stars the national league is dead.
