All we need to do is to get a new Coach who’ll come with his Assistants. He’ll then have to build up a strong team for the Nations Cup and subsequent matches and tournaments.

You see, Grant is a Good Coach in the sense that he is humble and respectful. He respects himself and everybody. He is also very democratic in the sense that he accepts criticisms and suggestions from anybody who does bring them.

Unfortunately he seems to be lacking in command and aptitude. HE DOES NOT ‘PLAY WITH THE TEAM DURING THE 90 MINUTES’ as modern Football requires. He usually sticks to The Dressing Room Theories and Strategies even when the field situation requires adjustments, modification and changes. This is where we’re suffering.

In this (Egypt) match for example, The Coach should have noticed early that Atsu was not himself. He should have allowed him to swap from time to the right wing. Patey was inconsistent. Andre Ayew could have been removed at the end of the first half. Jordan Ayew should be drilled to be smart and quick with the ball. A main striker must learn to dribble with and without the ball. Dribbling without the ball entails keeping oneself busy and moving away from time to time from the centre area of the goalposts whereby having the defenders following him to create spaces for the “bulldozers” of Wakasu and Agyeman- Badu and co to fire shots continuously

Fire this, Fire that, what a pity! We lack good quality players, simple as that. I keep and will continue to say that the fortunes of the Black Stars is dipping and will recess for a long time down the road. It will take a long time to get the calibers of Essien, Gyan, Muntari, Appiah, Boateng, Laryea etc to lift Ghana one more time. These guys had a common bond that transcend the football field and manifested itself when playing, and besides they played for clubs in the big leagues which made Ghana attractive that they took the world by storm from 2005-2014. Just look at the players we have now and dare tell me that they are quality materials, not even Dede. Currently, apart from Thomas Partey who have played cameo roles with Athletico, none on the players we have now are on top of their game. Simple as that. We have the individual brilliance and skill but there chemistry that holds them in and out the field of play is another key to keep them going. Once you loose the nucleus players that drives the momentum of a team as was in the case of Appiah et al., the teams fortunes takes a nosedive. It happened to Brazil, Spain, South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia, Ivory Coast among others, and Ghana is no exception. AFCON will be a disaster and that will spark the fall of Ghana soccer for some time to come. Leave Avram Grant alone because we had our own Kwasi Appiah and we fired him for no reason, but for winning an away game in neighbouring Togo, and mind you, no expatriate will come as a resident coach in Ghana. The truth hurts!!
