In a country of 250 million, where American football, Baseball and Basketball are real pastime, your exploits will be forgotten pretty fast. Gerald Asamoah's role or that of Freddy Adu's has already lost to history. On the other hand, the Polos, Razaks, Abedis, etc all still being revered.
