Nii Lantey Vanderpuije was a "Crazy Vampire" put in charge as Sports Minister. It was not a surprise to note that the Black Stars were struggling to stand on their feet when the NDC was in power. He brought confusion into the squad and caused disaffection for the team as well as GFA boss, Kwasi Nyantakyi. He accused everyone of corruption without having any proof. Moral and team spirit in Black Star's camp dumped to an all-time low in recent times. Ghanaians have seen the difference between NPP & NDC, the latter being vindictive and destructive. No wonder the Stars have rediscovered their winning spirit after change of govt. Ghana hand never qualified to any WC tournament, until the NPP under Kuffour came to power. Senior Minister designate, Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo was the then Minister for Sports mitivated the Stars to qualify to their 1st ever WC-2006 in Germany.
