  A completely pointless "stats," that does nothing to offer important information to assess the real strengths and weekneses of Cammeroon v Ghana.
  
  Examples: what has Both teams scoring in or out of the box; or Wakasu scoring in some AFCON semi-finals got to do with business?
  
  A useful stats will prepare the minds of us, the audience, to understand the preparedness, and potential of either team, to prevail as winner in today's match.

  A team represent singular so you can't say "Ghana are the only team",that's incorrect.

  It's actually not that simple, Mr. Kofi. First, there's the perspective of region: I've noticed that Americans tend to use 'is' for collectives (e.g. Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band) whereas the English tend to use 'are' (e.g. Coldplay are a British rock band). Second, usage depends on whether you prefer to put emphasis on the collective as one entity or put emphasis on the members that make up that collective. The former would lead you to use 'is' (e.g. New York Red Bulls is a great team) and the latter would lead you to use 'are' (e.g. Chelsea are great at marking their opponents). Long story short, there is no "wrong" and "right". Rather, it depends on regional norms and personal preference, thus this journalist is not "incorrect".
