Cameroon have ended Ghana’s dream of winning the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 35 years after defeating the Black Stars 2-0 in Thursday’s semi-final at Stade de Franceville.

Cameroon, who triumphed with two late goals, will meet Egypt for a repeat of the 2008 finals on Sunday February 5.

An end to end first half, it was Cameroon that came close to scoring in the seventh minute but Teikeu’s header was cleared off the line by Harrison Afful.

Tambe and Bassogog forced two saves from Ghana goalie Razak Braimah in the 11th and 14th minutes before Jordan Ayew and Wakaso Mubarak also blew their shots off target in a goalless first 45minutes.

Wakaso came close again in the 61st minute but his free kick was parried away by the Cameroonian goalie.

Cameroon broke the deadlock after the Ghanaian defence failed to deal with a free kick. Cameroonian centre back Ngadeu got hold of the ball after John Boye failed to head the free kick away with Razak Braimah already beaten. Ngadeu hit the roof of the net to get the first goal of the game.

The Ghanaians were caught on the break in an attempt to find the equaliser from a free kick in added time. Bassogog from a swift counter attack ran with only Harrison Afful and Razak Braimah to beat. He placed the ball beyond Braimah to give Cameroon a second goal to end the game for the Black Stars.

Ghana will move on to play the third place game against Burkina Faso while Cameroon play Egypt in the final.
