Ghanaian pair of Solomon Asante and Daniel Nii Adjei missed out on the 2017 CAF Super after a narrow 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundown. The TP Mazembe duo failed to add to their CAF Confederation trophy inside the Loftus Stadium in South Africa.
A spot kick from the Nacimento for Pitso Mosimani and his reigning Caf Champions league holders denied TP Mazembe another trophy on the continental stage.
Solomon Asante , who remain a key pillar for the sinking Lubumbashi based side , enjoyed a spectacular outing for his Congolese side but was powerless in preventing Sundown from becoming only the second team from South Africa to win the CAF super cup.
Sundown equalled the feat set by Orlando Pirates in 1996 with the 1-0 win over TP Mazembe. The south Africans are the current Cup holders in the Champions league while TP Mazembe are the current custodians of the CAF confederation cup.
