  I have a lady friend Deborah of Emirates Airline whose brother is called EDEM KODZO.

  The name Essien just means the 6th male child in Fanti so it's common among any Akan tribe.For example if go the Western region we do have lot of Fantis so is Essiens.If you go Ashanti region and other Akan areas,the 6th male born is also known as Nsiah.As for today,Essien has become a universal surname that doesn't necessary have to be a 6th born or a Fanti,anybody can bear it.Thank you.

  If you wish to educate the world about different versions of the same name elsewhere, do that. I do't know what research you want him to do.
