The Italian top-flight side are in pole position of landing the 26-year-old this summer transfer window Kickgh.com has learnt.
Ghanaian midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has emerged as a top transfer target for Italia Serie A side Sampdoria.
Kickgh.com earlier reported that the Genoa-based club have opened up negotiations with his parent club, Panathinaikos, over his possible capture.
The Ghana international was a top performer with relegated Spanish side Granada in the just ended Spanish La Liga Santander.
It is believed that several clubs in Europe including Atlanta and Celta Vigo have expressed interest in signing the 26-year-old.
Wakaso was excluded from the 30-man squad which was released by coach Kwesi Appiah for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia and a double friendly games against USA and Mexico.
