  The African players themselves - well, in the main - have been calling for this change for years.
  
  This man is good.
  He has already assured Africa of 9 places starting in 2026, with one playoff against an Asian country for a 10th place.
  
  Negotiations for a straight 10-nation representation, where we'll not have to do the playoff, are ongoing.
  
  Let's make this change once and for all. It'll also show our gratitude to him for giving us more places at the Mundial.
  
  For those who say he is dictating to us, I disagree.
  Africa has never been independent of anything productive.

  They should go ahead and choose their European clubs over country. We need to rely more on local players and not those who have sworn loyalty to the Europeans. This will in fact strengthen our local leagues.

  Some people simply either don't or don't want to understand. The AFCON is held at a time when there is oversupply on football (European leagues, Champions League, European Cup, Southamerica, Asia, even African domestic leagues!!!). How do want to generate more money when:
  A) AFCON clashes with more attractive and superior competition?
  B) Almost all stadia are empty?
  C) Your top stars refuse to participate?

  Afcon is a 3-week event.
  I prefer mid-June to early July.
  That way our "Europeans" can rest enough after their leagues and rest enough after Afcon before their new seasons begin.
  
  The players' engagement in Afcon will compensate enough for their training tours with their clubs, which are nothing but vacation anyway, and there will still be enough time to gel with their teams before the new season.
  
  And we'll get a bigger global audience because the Europeans will not be busy with their leagues.
