Christian Atsu and Newcastle United have been bundled out of the English League Cup in a dramatic 2-3 home reverse.
The St James Park outfit surprisingly crashed out of the League Cup at the hands of Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Forest earned a surprised cup progress at the expense of Newcastle with a late strike from Tyler Walker in the five goal thriller. Alexandre Mitrovic opened the scoring for the Toons before Jason Cummings turned the scores upside with two quick strikes in two minutes.
Rolands Arons pulled parity for Newcastle but could do little to prevent from scoring their third in extra time.
Christian Atsu was rested for the cup ties after playing full throttle in the opening two matches of the premier league. Newcastle have now lost their last three competitive matches of the season despite enjoying a decent off season.
