Winger Christian Atsu is looking forward to his best season in the coming English Premier League campaign with Chelsea.
The Ghana international has completed his first full pre-season with the Magpies having arrived permanently from Chelsea last year.
Atsu had been persistently farmed out on loan since arriving to Chelsea five years ago from FC Porto as he struggled to find a consistent run in England.
The 26-year-old is now eyeing his best run yet in the upcoming campaign.
“This will be a big season for me and I have a feeling it will be my best season yet too,” he told KweseESPN.
“I have spent the summer getting fit. I had a good run [in the team] last season and I have a full pre-season under my wings.
“I am very confident.”
Atsu made 28 appearances for Newcastle last season – starting 19 times.
He will be hoping to hit the ground running in the new season when Necastle host Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday.
