Elmina Boxing club receives equipment

Elmina, Jan.7, GNA - Mr Twintoh Walker, Chairman of the Central Regional Amateur Boxing Association on Thursday presented boxing equipment worth two million cedis to the Elmina Boxing Club at Elmina. The items which were donated by Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Minister of Energy and an Executive Director of the club included a punching bag, work pad, speedballs and spring gloves.

Making the presentation on behalf of the Minister, Mr Walker said he hoped that the executives of the club would take proper care of the equipment to prolong its life span and offer the necessary training for more boxers in the area.

He also advised members of the club to train harder to enable them produce a champions for the area.

Mr Kwame Ayoma, Chairman of the Club who received the equipment expressed his gratitude to Dr Nduom and appealed to other well to do citizens of Elmina and its environs to contribute their quota towards the promotion of boxing and other sports in the town. Mr Gafaru Seidu, an Executive member of the Association appealed to the boxers to take their training seriously to enable them bring honours to the club and the town.
