French Ligue I side Stade Rennes are interested in making a summer move for Ghana defender Nicholas Opoku after a successful loan spell with relegated Amiens SC.
According to RMC Sport, Rennes have taken a particular liking to 22-year-old Ghanaian international central defender Nicholas Opoku.
The former Club Africain defender arrived on loan at Amiens from Italian side Udinese in January, and impressed during his seven Ligue 1 appearances before the season was ended due to COVID-19.
The Picardy side have a €4m option to purchase the player, which the outlet claim President Joannin intends to activate. However, the Ghanaian is not likely to be playing in Ligue 2 next season, despite the fact that Amiens have been relegated.
Rennes have positioned themselves concretely to sign the youngster – if Amiens decide not to take the financial risk to purchase him for €4m, then rather than negotiating directly with Amiens, SRFC will look to negotiate a loan with obligation to buy deal with Opoku’s current parent club, Udinese.
