The Ghana @ 60 Planning Committee has officially unveiled the ceremonial cloth for the celebrations at a ceremony in Accra.

According to the Committee, it will be sold at a wholesale price at Gh¢220 and subsequently at a price of Gh¢240 for the general public.

The anniversary regalia come in four distinct colours namely white, cream, blue, and green with the 60th-anniversary logo hugely embossed in them.

The cloth also has Sankofa and Gye Nyame symbols, as well as the rainbow colours of Ghana with the Black Star.

Jefferson Sackey, a spokesperson of the Committee said the team had made provisions to discourage wholesale merchants from hoarding the textiles so as to sell them at an outrageous figure.

He also revealed that the clothes which have three special quality designs are scheduled to be in the market before the end of the week. The 60th-anniversary cloth was produced locally by textile manufacturing giant, Printex.

Printex is also the first textile manufacturer to produce the fabric with other competitors also following suit in due course.

Members of the public seem to be divided over the selling prices of the cloth with a section calling it outrageous especially since it was related to the country’s independence celebration. Others are also of the view that the price is fair considering production cost and other factors.
