  I feel very sorry for those who talk about widdennig the tax net in Ghana. Looking at the existing modes of collecting taxes it is obvious that the government is gives lip service to tax collection.The personel involved in collecting those who have registered with the Ghana revenue authority are over stretched in their daily work.Can you believe that sometimes three or not more than five people are responsible for collection of taxes from 3 districts !! Just look at this example: 4or 5 people....... staff do collect taxes fromPru district, Amanten/ Atebubu district and Kwame Danso/ Sene district. The main officr is at Atebubu.Does it sound like a story? This sort of arrangement is found throughout the country.This paints a very bad picture about tax collection in Ghana.
