The Eastern Regional Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jeff Konadu has described former President, John Dramani Mahama as deceitful and therefore, urged Ghanaians not to take him seriously.

According to him, the former President failed Ghanaians during his tenure in office and wonders why he is still going about telling ‘lies’ even in opposition.

In an interview on an Nkawkaw based radio station, Mr Konadu said “During Mahama’s tenure as the president of this great nation, we as citizens faced several problems such as ‘dumsor’. He spent four years fixing the crises which led to the collapse of many businesses in the country. Due to this power outage crisis, I personally spent GH? 8,000 every month that is if only I want to work and make money. I, therefore, cut down work force just to make a profit. People suffered because of one persons’ incompetence” he complained.

Mr Konadu, who believe that Ghana under the watch of President Akufo-Addo has done enormously well than the previous government and assured the current hardship some Ghanaians are complaining of is temporal and will soon be fixed.

“Since Ghanaians voted Akufo-Addo into office, he has fulfilled his promises as he has been able to introduce the free SHS policy as promised. Even though there have been challenges, the government is still working to deal with them” he insisted.

Former President Mahama recently said that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will properly implement the free senior high school program if Ghanaians give the party mandate in 2020 to run the affairs of the country.

But reacting to the statement, the secretary of the NPP in the Eastern Region furiously rubbished the statement of the former President as he believes he (Mahama) deceived Ghanaians.

“This is not the first time he (Mahama) has been insincere to the nation. Therefore, I am pleading to Ghanaians to take his statements and comments as lies” he emphasized.

On Mahama’s earlier statement that he will restructure small scale mining when given the power in 2020, Mr. Konadu said during his time as the Vice President and subsequently becoming the President, he (Mahama) was not able to even stop activities of illegal miners which has destroyed lands, forest and water bodies in the country.

He commended President Akufo-Addo for the bold decision was taken by his government in solving the issue of illegal mining by placing a ban on it for proper regulations to be made.
