Ghanaian media personality, Afia Pokua, known as Vim Lady, has offered advice to Hopeson Adorye following his recent remarks post-release.

Adorye had previously boasted about the political mileage gained from his arrest and release, suggesting it was a unique opportunity.

During a Facebook live video session with his wife Empress Gifty, the politician described his arrest as a hidden blessing, claiming widespread attention from around the world.

However, Vim Lady has disagreed with his sentiments, citing potential negative implications for his family, particularly his wife, Empress Gifty, a gospel musician, and the country as a whole.

“Hopeson, please next time consider the safety of the nation and even the emotional effect on your wife over the political mileage you will get,” she urged.

Despite some netizens encouraging Adorye's bold statements during the live video, his wife appealed for restraint, advising him to let the situation rest.

"Don't fire them, please. This situation isn't easy. If you're not fortunate enough to have a strong and Godfearing partner by your side, the person can drop dead. She wouldn't be able to handle it," Empress Gifty expressed.

In response to Adorye's intention to "fire" his detractors, Vim Lady echoed Gifty's plea, emphasizing the importance of heeding his wife's counsel.

"Listen to your wife," she reiterated. "This is why I thought the arrest was needless despite the fact his comment was extreme. The arrest has increased Hopeson's political capital to do more damage.”

Background

Hopeson Adorye's arrest stemmed from allegations that he deployed explosives in the Volta region to intimidate supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2016 elections.

He claimed this tactic contributed to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) victory in 2016. Adorye faces charges of disseminating false information and has been released on bail.

Maintaining his defiance, Adorye stated that his arrest would not deter him, attributing it to his departure from the NPP.

He alleged internal elements within the party were conspiring against him.
