Leader and founder of Glorious Wave Chapel Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi has added his voice to who headlines Ghana’s 60th anniversary and he believes a Ghanaian musician should headline the concert.

Few days ago when the National Planning Committee of the Ghana, 60 Years announced that American prolific gospel musician Don Moen was going to headline the anniversary gospel concert, it did not go down well with many Ghanaians including gospel musicians and entertainment critics.

Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, who is also not happy with the whole idea, in an interview with Christian Agyei Frimpong on Accra-based Onua 95.1 FM laid an emphasis on the fact that the concert is in line with the nation’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

So, he doesn’t see the reason why the planning committee should contract Don Moen from the United States of America (USA) to headline the gospel concert.

Prophet Badu Kobi further stated that irrespective of the private individuals who are bringing the American gospel star into the country, that money must be invested in local artistes.

According to him, there are several of these stars who can equally headline this gospel concert. Jefferson Sackey, Chairman of the Media and Brands Subcommittee, also joined the show via telephone and stated that “the gospel concert is a private initiative”.

“Some private individuals approached the Committee about the gospel concert and because we have a similar concert, we decided to partner them and they are taking care of all the expenses on Don Moen not the nation Ghana. “The fact that Don Moen is the headline artiste doesn’t mean we want to despise our own or we have no respect for Ghanaian artiste.

We have Ghanaian gospel artistes like Joe mettle, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Francis Amo, Josh Laryea etc on the show.”

Ever since this debate started there hasn’t been any statement from the Musicians Union of Ghana as many expect them to issue a statement to condemn the move by the Ghana 60 years On Planning Committee.
