Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, has denied promoting Nigerian music on his tour with Zylofon Media in Nigeria.

The self-acclaimed dancehall king has been accused by a section of Ghanaian music lovers of promoting Nigerian music ahead of Ghanaian songs.

The agenda for Ghanaian musicians to promote Ghana music comes on the back of how some Zylofon artistes were received by Nigerian fans when they performed at a recently held event.

The Ghanaians, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Becca and others received a cold reception while the Nigerians cheered their artistes on. This has led to calls for Ghanaians to drop Nigerian music and promote theirs.

Reacting to accusations that he promoted Nigerian music, Shatta Wale told Andy Dosty on Accra-based Hitz FM that he only introduced a Nigerian artiste on stage but did not promote her music.

He said he only introduced Dammy Queen on stage because he had done same for her during a performance in Kumasi and also because they were friends.

“What I did for Dammy Queen [in Nigeria], I did [same] for her in Kumasi because she kept a certain relationship with me, she is one of the Nigerian artistes who lives a real life…

“So I introduced Dammy Queen on stage that day, I didn’t introduce Nigerian music and I was not pushing Nigerian music…”
